Let's Talk.... EYES

Making your eyes POP

Just like using color to contour your face, you can use a similar technique to change your eye shape. Narrow eyes? Drooping lids? Small eyes? - Use a light / shadow technique to alter the overall appearance.

As you age, your skin loses elasticity, thus making the inevitable"droop" happen. If you are one of those reading this and thinking YES, that is me!! What do I do? You need to add more definition. You can do this by sweeping a light bronzer along the crease of your eye. For all you blue eyed ladies out there, using a bronzy/orange color will make the blue in your eyes pop even more. After doing this, apply a light color above the crease from the inner to outer lid to highlight and draw attention up. Then blend a shadow. Make sure to blend these colors well, especially the edges from the shadow to the highlight.

If you have narrow eyes, you might be looking to elongate the width. By applying a black liner to the outer half of the top and bottom lash line and connecting the corners, it will draw the attention of your eye out...making it appear wider.

If you have small eyes, applying a light colored eyeliner to your lower inner rim (above the lashes) will make your eyes look more open. Use a black liner along your entire upper and lower lash lines and connect them at the outer corner. You can also smudge the lines giving the illusion your eyes are bigger than they really are.

One thing I always do with my black pencil liner is apply it to the inner upper rim. I feel like it really sharpens the appearance of my eyes and give it more cohesiveness with my top liner and mascara without seeing all those harsh lines.

 Think OPPOSITES when it comes to COLOR

  If you're trying to pick the most flattering eyeshadow colors, here's a cheat sheet:

For blue eyes:
Since orange is the opposite color of blue, anything with orange in it will make blue eyes stand out more. I know what you are thinking....ORANGE?! This girl is crazy! No I am not saying go out and find a bright orange shade. But if the shadow has orange undertones such as gold, pinks, and peaches it will work well with your color. Trust me! Also, add in some browns for a great smokey eye.

For green eyes:
The opposite color of green is....RED! But please don't wear RED eyeshadow. That would be all kinds of hideous. If you have green eyes try purples.

For brown eyes:
Brown is a neutral color, so any color will work well.
All you brown eyed ladies are lucky!
Most things look great on brown eyes.

My Go TO shadow right now:
I'm sure it's no surprise, the NAKED 2 Palette.
This palette is a great combination of colors for ALL eye colors.

- Hair -

If you know me... you know I NEVER part my hair this way.
It is a BIG change.
Not like a drastic hair cut or color change.
But usually I have a big POOF going on.
I look at this picture and thing - wow, my hair looks really flat!!
But, it is growing on me slowly.
What do you think?

Love it or lose it?

Lately I've been into two-toned jewelry.
Well...let's be honest... I've been into a lot of different jewelry lately.
It doesn't help that I work in a high end jewelry store.
Ugh, like I said before...I love it but my husband and wallet don't.
If you ever see any jewelry on any of my posts that you like you can always contact me for more information or to purchase it.

Never...

This has quickly become one of my favorite sayings.

We spend more time at work than we do with our loved ones.
Or spending time doing the things we enjoy.

We fall in the routine of waking up, getting ready, going to work and then having just a few hours of the day to spend at home until it is time to go to sleep.

 We wake up and do it all over again.

We often go places for a job that without it there would have been no way you would ever have lived there.

Instead of having the (1) job you are hired for, you end up taking the place of about (3) people so the company can cut back on payroll...all while paying you the same.

Some of us are fortunate enough to be able to stay at home if we like, but we work to have our own spending money.

I have found myself questioning if it is worth it?

Is it worth it to work at a job where you have to work a different schedule than your spouse?

Is it worth it to have to work on weekends when everyone else has off?

Is it worth it if you are trying to request off work for Thanksgiving to spend time with your family and they do not want to honor your request?

Is it worth doing something you don't love?

What are your thoughts on this issue?
Do you have to often work weekends at your job?
Do you love your job?

enough about that little rant...

A gift to YOU - Giveaway

One thing my mother has taught me is to give nice gifts.
We can all think of one person that always gives gifts that there is absolutely no thought behind and a gift you immediately know you want to take back to even throw away. I mean really...what's the point in giving something that no one will enjoy? If that is the case just get a gift card! Anyways... enough about that little rant.

As I promised, I am hosting a giveaway since I have now reached 200 followers. Since I don't know who will be the lucky one to win, I wanted to give away many of my favorite things. Just call me Oprah...on a much smaller scale...kidding! I just wanted to do something nice for you all. I just love giving gifts!

Let me tell you a little about what I chose to give away.

Revlon Color Stay Liquid Eyeliner

This is my go to eyeliner every day. I absolutely love using a liquid liner on my top lid to have that defined line. This eyeliner also lasts throughout the day without fading / smudging.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara

I haven't laid hands on anything else that gives my lashes as much length as this mascara.
If you haven't tried this mascara then if you don't win this giveaway you should definitely go out and buy it.

Essie's Good to Go Top Coat

I just LOVE Essie polish. I wish all the nail salons would start using it. Until then I will buy my own and bring it with me each time I go in for a mani or pedi. As I was browsing the Essie display I picked up their top coat and started reading about it. This stuff dries SO FAST! It is no time after I get all my little fingers or toes covered in this coat that I can do whatever I wish. Who likes waiting around for their polish to dry?---Not this girl!

Essie's Tart Deco Nail Polish

If you know me, you know that I have been obsessed with CORAL lately. Tart Deco and Haute as Hello are currently my favorite Essie colors....so I chose to give you ladies one of my favorites.

Emi Jay Hair Tie

This is my new favorite thing. I cannot stand to sleep without my hair up but also hate to have that hideous crease in the morning when I take my hair down.
This is the answer to my problem.

64" Fresh Water Pearl Necklace

I'm Southern and I just LOVE pearls.
I own this necklace and have also gifted it to just about every girl I know.
These pearls look great alone or layered with other necklaces...  I always wear it layered like the picture above with other pearls.

These items are a combined value of $265
This giveaway ends Monday  July 30th.

Friday Favorite's - Let's Talk Makeup

If you are like me, you looked at that picture and said WOW, her makeup looks great. It is not too much but her skin and face look flawless! I wonder what kind of foundation she wears?

Well ladies...that is one question I get asked most about. My foundation!
And because I love you so all dearly, I want to share with you the products I use.

{Setting a good Foundation}

Let's face it, we all love our makeup looking flawless.
These are the products I use each day to achieve my look.
I have never been great about skin care....I know, I know it's not a good habit but I am getting better. Prom, prom {yes I got that from Khloe Kardashion.}

{First things first...}
Everyone has a different skin type.
I am blessed with good skin. {Thank you Mom & Dad}
My skin is not oily and it is not dry - a good combination of both.
I rarely have break outs.
No I'm not saying that to be a BISH, I am just letting you know so if you have a similar skin type you know these products will work well for you too :)

{Moisturizer}
As I said, I have not been the best at sticking to a skin care routine, but I have recently fallen in love with Bobbi Brown's moisturizer. {Thanks Lacey}
I put it on at night and can tell it has really made my face silky smooth.
This also helps when applying foundation.
 It goes on much more evenly.
I went to the Bobbi Brown counter and asked for a few samples to make sure I liked it before spending all that money on a product I wasn't sure if I would like.
When I am out of my samples I WILL be buying this.
Or I might be going back for more free samples.
What?! I know you do that too!!

Hydrating Face Cream

{Eye Cream}
I think I woke up one day and realized I'm getting old!
 Okay, okay,  I am 24...but it is never too early to prevent the inevitable wrinkles and dark under eyes. I have always heard good things about the StriVectin line and came across an amazing deal at none other than TJ Maxx.
Do I see a huge difference? No
Would I rush out and buy it again? No
However, this tube will last me a good while.... So time will tell on this product.

{Foundation}
Foundation is important because it is what sets the rest of your look.
I found my all time favorite foundation about 5 years ago and have never even wanted to try anything else.

I'm talking about Estee' Lauder Double Wear Foundation.
This is a thicker foundation and literally lasts all day long. I can wear it to work, work out and even for a night out and it always looks fresh.

I have also gotten my close friends, family and even many acquaintances hooked on this product. Ladies, if you have not tried this yet, go to your local Estee' Lauder counter and get them to match your color and give you a sample.
 It is worth every penny!

Estee' Lauder Double Wear Foundation

For those of you that aren't used to a heavy foundation they also make a lighter version.

{Cover Up}
For those annoying dark circles under your eyes or any blemishes you need covering, this concealer does the trick. I also use Estee' Lauder Double Wear for this too. This product isn't thick or cakey like some concealers. It also stays in place and lasts for hours. Not to mention this tube lasts ridiculously long.

Estee' Lauder Double Wear Concealer

{Powder}
This really sets your look
If I am not wearing powder I just don't feel complete
I like to use a pressed powder vs loose powder....really because I don't like the mess loose powder leaves. I apply my powder with a brush instead of the sponge it comes on with for a less heavy look.
Again, I use Estee' Lauder.
Are you seeing a trend?
I'm obsessed with the Estee' Lauder Double Wear line!!

So What

So What...
If my Mamaw (Brad's grandmother) calls me to go tan, have girls trips and watch Magic Mike together.
I love these times with her and her young spirit.

So What...
If I watched the same movie 2 nights in a row.
It was HILARIOUS.
Have you seen 21 Jump Street? If not, go rent it. Now.

So What...
If after 5 days off work I don't want to be here today.
Can you blame me?

So What...
 If I bought a lot of "things" at Victoria's Secret yesterday, then an hour later I realized I didn't use my gift card so I went back and bought some more "things" with my gift card.

So What...
If this new VS bra I am wearing is giving me MAJOR cleavage in my work attire... Someone will appretiate it later ;)

Friday's Letters

Dear Readers, I will be hosting a pretty great giveaway once I reach 200 followers. You won't want to miss out! Dear New Followers, Thank you for following, I hope to get to know all of you soon.  Dear Friday, I am so glad you are here.   Dear Work, you have given me the most bizarre schedule lately. One week I hate you, the next week I feel like I am on vacation. I am thankful to not have to go back to work until Wednesday. Thank you for also giving me a love for fine jewelry. I appreciate that  and all my fabulous jewelry but my wallet and husband do not.   Dear Mamaw, Thank you for calling me 3 times the morning of my day off to wake me up. There is nothing better than being able to sleep in, not set an alarm and have your phone go off 3 times.   Dear Mother in Law, Your new ring is ridiculously gorgeous. Maybe I am partial because I picked it out for you, but since I am your only "daughter" I hope you are putting it in the will to go to me :) Dear Big Brother, I am so glad you are finally back.  Dear Emily, I am still mad at you for sending Sean home.

GO AHEAD...MAKE A STATEMENT

There are many days when the only outfit I can assemble is skinnies, a button down, and a fabulous statement necklace. Although simple... this outfit is always so chic.
I am a huge fan of having statement necklaces in my wardrobe and lately I am swooning over this one from Lauren Elan!

Sunday Social

It's SUNDAY Funday again!
Which means.....SUNDAY SOCIAL

Here are this week's questions:
Home Improvement

This is probably my favorite show of all time.
How could you not love it?
I think it was so popular because it was so true to what families are like.
Things are crazy hectic
 A lot of men think they have the ability to fix anything
when in reality it usually turns into a complete F up.
Am I right?
{Thank goodness my husband is quite the handy man}

What happened to shows like these?
Shows that EVERYONE liked.
Shows that you always looked forward to watching.
Shows you could watch as a family.
Shows that lasted YEARS and not just one or two seasons.

Who could forget the most popular neighbor on TV...Wilson!

I know the show hid his identity, but I am revealing it to you all now.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the man behind the fence
(and everything else in sight)

Earl Hindman aka Wilson!

Other past favorite shows:
Friends
Full House
Saved by the Bell
Laguna Beach
The Hills
OPRAH
All things reality
Basically anything on E!, BRAVO or ABC

The Bachelorette / Bachelor / Bachelor Pad
Kendra / Kendra on Top
Giuliana & Bill
Keeping up with the Kardashians / Khloe and Lamar
Real Housewives of OC / Beverly Hills
Big Brother
Million Dollar Listing
Big Rich Texas

....and many more

Survivor

There is no. freaking. way I would EVER do that show

On some remote island
No {good} food
No Diet Dr. Pepper
No shower
No razor
No makeup
No clothing
No Bed
No Bathroom
Bugs
Snakes

No Thank You!
If I was still single I would consider being a contestant on the Bachelor.....but seeing as how I am not, I am not going to go into detail as to why ;)

A Reality Show I would do would be:

Big Brother

Strategy
Game Playing
More chances to win things/ money instead of only the grand prize
Crazy Costumes
Control

I like to think that I am different than most the characters in the shows I watch...seeing has how most of them are so cray!

If I had to choose it would probably be Kim Kardashion.
Yes we are completely different, but our personalities are a lot a like.
For one...I LOVE to shop, but definitely not on her level. {In my dreams}
She is at most times reserved...I am the same.
I tend to get emotionally involved in things...she wears her feelings on her shoulder.
I do things to try and make everyone happy...she seems to do the same. {On a much more extravagant level}
 I have a big crazy family....well it is obvious that they do too!

Currently I am #TeamSean on The Bachelorette.
There's just something about a sweet SOUTHERN Gentleman
If Emily doesn't pick him she is CRAZY
Whoever he ends up with will be one lucky girl

Dear ABC,
Please Make Sean Lowe the next Bachelor if Emily doesn't choose him.
