Sweet Memories

As our 1 year wedding anniversary is quickly approaching, I can't help myself but to reminisce on the year we have shared together. I am still slightly obsessed with all of our wedding photos - which is why you see it in every piece of social media I am a part of.
When I started planning my wedding I knew what the most important thing to me was. It wasn't the dress. It wasn't the perfect pair of wedding shoes. It wasn't the size of my wedding cake or having the best DJ at the reception. It was who I chose as my wedding photographer. But it's just pictures, right?! WRONG! After your wedding is all said and done, your pictures is what you have to look back on. Sure you have the memories.... The dress.... and some of the decor stashed away in closets. Looking back on your wedding pictures is what re-creates those memories. So why not chose the photographer you know will create the photos you will be proud to look back on and not just hire someone who has a camera?
I have heard so many terrible stories and complaints when it comes to wedding photography. When it came to choosing my photographer, I just knew it was going to be Miles Witt Boyer. The best advertising is word of mouth and I have not heard one bad thing about Miles. I knew couples that used him, saw plenty of photos published, not to mention how I could not stop looking at all the gorgeous photos he had posted on his web-site and Facebook. I knew it had to be him when I began planning my wedding date around his availability. I believe we switched our dates 3 times just to be able to use him. After seeing our engagement photos (here and here) it made me even more excited to get in my wedding dress to take bridals and then our wedding photos. Miles is not the kind of photographer that just comes, snaps a few pictures and leaves. He leaves a lasting impression on you by getting to know you, your fiance, your family, your style, what type of images you want and he instantly becomes not only your photographer, but your friend. He makes you feel comfortable behind the camera and I couldn't recommend anyone else for you to use if you are searching for that perfect photographer to capture your special moments.

Miles has put together an album of his favorite images from 2012. Out of the thousands of photos, he chose 11 from my engagement, bridal and wedding. It would mean so much to me if you would stop by and like his page to vote. The winning couple gets a photo album or photo shoot and each photo that gets more than 100 votes gets a print credit.  It would truly mean a lot to me if you would stop by and help us win!
Here are a few in the running:

Motivational Monday

Mondays always represent a new beginning to me.
I think that is why I find myself  trying to make them as uplifting and motivational as possible. I may sound a little too optimistic at times but I too have my doubts.

Let's talk about confidence

Confidence is the one accessory all women should wear
Once you have confidence you will feel like you can conquer the world
Having confidence, at times, does not come easy.
Life is going to disappoint you.
You will find yourself a little down because of what society expects of you
There are pressures surrounding you from all angles to be "perfect"

We all have those moments
That "lonely" or "alone" feeling
That "I'm not pretty" feeling
That moment where you want to be like "_____"
That moment where you would like to lose X amount of pounds
That moment where you feel like a busted can of biscuits in an outfit
That moment where you wish you were 5 inches taller or a couple sizes smaller

In reality we need to look past those moments, stop criticizing ourselves and start focusing on all of the positive qualities we possess.
So what if......
You aren't a size 2
Have a voluptuous figure
A little cellulite
Thick thighs
Stretch marks
A "bump" on your nose
Have a noticeable scar
Don't have the "perfect" smile
Your stomach isn't perfectly flat
Boobs that are too small (or big)
Have to wear a pair of spanx (or two)
Have split ends and dark roots
Can't take off that baby weight as fast as the celebrities can
These are things you have to accept.
Things that make you YOU
Things that make you the uniquely beautiful person you are

I’ve had my fair share of feeling insecure because of silly reasons… as probably every one of you reading this have also had. There are times where you have to stand up for yourself.

Simply changing the way we view ourselves is the biggest obstacle to overcome. Self-esteem affects  many aspects of our lives. When you lack self-confidence, it is nearly impossible for others to have true faith in you.

Sometimes all it takes is for a man to tell you "you're beautiful" to pick you up.
Why is it that we seek recognition from others to feel proud of ourselves?

We need to practice telling ourselves that we are beautiful.
No matter what size you wear, how much you weigh, or what imperfections you have
They make you You
and YOU are beautiful

Embrace your flaws.
Remind yourself of your strengths, talents and parts of yourself that you love.
At the end of the day it is not how other people see you, it is how you see yourself.

I love - LOVE

It's this amazing feeling of happiness and joy, yet uncertainty.
Forgiveness and compassion.
It makes you see through your loved one's flaws.
It makes you do things that you swore you would never do or try.
It makes you rethink everything.
It makes the quirky things adorable.
It makes you put others first.
Love gives you purpose.
It changes the way you act and the way you feel.
It changes your behavior.
It changes how you dress and how you feel about yourself.
It changes your daily routine.
Love is complicated
Love is hard
Love is real
But when you find that true love, it becomes easier.
Relationships are important.
Love isn't enough.
You have to maintain and take care of it.
Work on it.
and most of all
Don't get "used" to it.

Communication in a relationship is one of the most important things.
Communication is something that can make or break a relationship
Communication exchanges information in the form of ideas, wants, desires, feelings, and so much more. The nonverbal communication you share is just as important.
It's the little things like....
Saying good morning to one another
Kissing each other goodbye when you leave
Sending sweet messages to one another throughout the day
Little "love taps"
Welcoming each other as soon as you get home
Small displays of affection when they least expect it

and most of all - flirt with your husband!

Motivational Monday

Do you ever feel like something is dragging you down
Something that is frequently on your mind
Something that is causing you to have a bad day
Something is giving you unwanted stress or anxiety

A part about me that I have not really shared with all of you is my anxiety
I have not always had it
I know the cause of it
I know that I do not need to turn to medication to deal with it
I know ways of coping with it
I am trying to overcome it

I'm sure you have all heard people ask if you look at the glass half empty or half full.
Have you ever had anyone ask you what the weight of the glass is?
....Strange question, right?
Well here is a new way of looking at things.
I want to share with you something that I recently read by an unknown author.
I have taken the words and changed them a bit but this is what I got from it:

-----> The Weight of the Glass <-----

The weight of the glass does not matter. It is how long you hold it that does. If you are holding it temporarily it is not a problem. The weight of the glass will not bother you. If you hold it for a few hours it starts to give you an aches and pains. If you hold it for a day you will feel numb. The longer you hold the glass, the heavier it becomes.... even though the actual weight does not change.

Now imagine that the stresses and worries in your life are the weight of the glass.
If you hold onto it for a few minutes  - nothing happens
If you hold onto it for a few hours - they begin to hurt and bother you
If you hold onto it for a day -  you will feel like you are incapable of doing anything
You let the stress and worries overcome you by continuously thinking of them
The longer you hold onto things, the heavier they become

It is important to let go of your stresses as early as you can
Carrying them with you will only make it worse

This is something hard to accomplish, I know
I am trying

Friday's Letters

Dear Lovers Day.... You were a great day.  I hope that each and every one of you enjoyed yours as well.
Dear Husband, hubby, baby, darling.... You made our first Valentine's Day as a married couple just the way I like it. Spoiling me a little bit. Picking out the perfect card. Giving me gifts to pamper me. pretty much know what I like. Instead of going out to eat with the rest of the world, we spent a relaxing evening at home. Just the two of us. Good company, good dinner, good quality time together and a shared a sweet treat or two.
Dear Hubby..... You're getting a new truck, I think we need to get new living room furniture. Yep. Time to get rid of the stuff I've had since college. Okay, so maybe it's only been a few years....but I think it's time for a change.
Dear Diet Dr. Pepper.... Tomorrow will mark 1 month without even a sip of you. I am proud of myself.

Dear Off Days.... Lately you have been spent in a deep cleaning / organizing mode. I think this girl is officially getting spring fever.
Dear Beach... You're just over a month away and I can't wait to be on you! Okay that comment was a little sexual, but you know what I mean. Me + the hubs on a vacay soaking up the sun, toes in sand = pure bliss.
Dear New Living in the Moment readers.... I am so excited to have you here. I can't wait to get to know you all

Dear Weekend.... Let's make it a good one!

You're my Sweetheart

 Happy Valentine's Day, sweethearts!

Today is a day that you either love or hate.
To me, I have always loved it - even if I didn't have a current "love" in my life I could always spend the day indulging in some of my favorite things and watch a lovey dovey movie with a big glass of vino. Don't get me wrong - I love gifts and love to shower people with gifts but Valentine's Day can sometimes be cliche with the stuffed animals, flowers, candy and heart shaped jewelry.  Thank goodness my husband does not go for gifts like that. It might be because I told him if he bought me anything heart shaped I would never wear it. He likes to pamper me with mani/pedis, massages, tans, spa treatments. He knows just what I like and I love that about him. Brad and I have always celebrated Valentine's Day and this is our first as Mr. & Mrs.  My favorite gifts from B are actually the cards he gives me. I know he takes so much time selecting the perfect card but I adore the sweet messages he writes in them. It is always something that I can look back on and in a way re-live some of our past. This year he bought me the absolute perfect card and wrote in it "my life, my love, my happiness." Little things like that make my heart happy.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
 1 Corinthians 13:4–8a

My little man wants to wish all his lady friends a Happy Valentine's Day.
He loves cuddling and treats for anyone who would like to join him
Happy Valentine's Day to all my lovely readers.
I hope your day is filled with lots of love!

Happy Motivational Monday loves!

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, it really gets me thinking about not only love but settling. You see, I am in a business of "love." I am the person you go to when you need an engagement ring, wedding band, anniversary gift, push present, birthday present, Christmas present..... you get the picture. In my job, I am surrounded by love. On the other side of that, I am also surrounded by deceit. Unfortunately there are those individuals who  come in buying items for let's just say the "other women" in their lives.
Which makes me want to discuss the topic of settling.

Settling happens in our day to day lives in relationships and various obligations.
Whether you are single, dating, or married.  Sometimes it’s easier to just “settle.” Maybe you’ve been waiting for that special someone for as long as you can remember, but no one seems to be "the one." But you enjoy spending time with them or quite frankly just don't want to be alone.

"Never make someone a priority if they only consider you an option"
Maybe you've been looking for your dream job, but all you can find is someone to hire you and you take it- even if this  means you are not happy in your current career choice.
For awhile it might be okay to just get by doing the things you do not truly love.
Do you ever find yourself settling for less because you don't want to make other people unhappy?
I have been there
Many times.
We tend to make people's feelings priorities in our lives.
We get in a routine.
We settle.
Whether you want someone to spend time with, someone for support or even that little bit of money you are getting from that dead end boring job you have. In the long run, it is better to aim high and wait for that person that is "right" for you or that job that makes you happy. Even if you think it will never happen to you, I do believe in the phrase "good things come to those who wait."

Be yourself.
How do you expect to be able to find what you want in life unless you are true to your feelings.
Life is bound to fall into place by doing the things you love.

Don't concentrate too much on finding what you're looking for.
We all know that nothing goes as planned and good things come when you least expect it.
Take a step back.
Think about what you are looking for.
Go on that date that you are unsure about.
Interview for new jobs.
Don't let opportunities pass you by. What have you got to lose...besides possibly the love of your life or your dream job?

 Be selfish
You deserve to be.

Keep your options open.
If you aren't happy, DON'T SETTLE

Friday's Letters

Dear Readers.... I intended on writing this post hours ago, truly. I unexpectedly was informed that I was going with my manager to appear in a news segment displaying many gift items for Valentine's Day. Dear Manager.... It would have been nice to get a heads up about my TV debut. I would have.... I don't know, maybe woke up a little earlier and not thrown my hair in a sock bun and put on a much cuter outfit. Dear Mom / Sister.... This convo was funny. Thanks for making my day. And no, I did not make an appearance on the Jerry Springer show.

Dear Kendra Scott... I am slightly obsessed with your earrings. I'll take one in every style/color please. Dear Warmer weather.... Heeeeeeyyyy. Why don't you stay awhile.

 This happened.
Hubby likes my long locks.

My lil man is quite the spoiled thing + a watch dog at that

A few new purchases. Spring colored scarf and emerald necklace

Perfect reason to buy the dress on the right plus I got my IG friend's approval
Looks like I am ready for warmer weather to try out these new shades!

Motivational Monday {Link Up} : Do Small Things With Great Love

I truly believe it is not the size of what you do but the amount of effort and love you put into it. If it touches someone’s heart, you have succeeded.
We don’t realize that it’s the little things that often affect others the most. We tend to take for granted that it’s the things we think may not matter which actually matter the most.

So start doing the little things you do little with GREAT love.
“We can do no great things; only small things with great love.”
-Mother Teresa
