Little Letters - Better late than never

I can't believe it is already Friday. This week has flown by. Between work and events after work I haven't had much time to devote to this little ol' blog here.

So let's get to writing letters...

Dear Memorial Day....
You were fun. I spent the morning fishing with my family then that afternoon we had a big cookout with all the fish and fixins'. Followed by a long nap and the Bachelorette season premiere I'd say it was a pretty good day. I always love an extended weekend due to a Holiday.

**notice the guy on the other side of the pond in the background. That would be my husband. Thanks for the help babe**

Dear Husband....
Thanks for taking me fishing every single day this week. I think.... It has been some good quality time together even though I needed a new manicure after all of it. I'm getting a little better at taking the fish off the hook but it still isn't my favorite thing.

**que immediate stank face when the fish comes out of the water and it's time to take the hook out of it's mouth. I think he takes me fishing for the pure enjoyment of my reactions**

Dear Vacation....
Let's plan one soon. Please and thank you.
I'm thinking something over 4th of July.... hubby, I hope you're reading this.

Dear Bachelorette....
I am excited to have a little Bachelor/ette action back in my life on Monday night.
I hope this season does not disappoint

Motivational Monday

There are times when you look back and think about how the kindness of another person has changed your life for the better.
It’s easy to see that kindness has the power to reach far beyond the gesture.
In the most difficult times, kindness is powerful.
 It gives comfort and hope.
Kindness can inspire confidence.
It changes the perspective of those it reaches.
It is contagious.
When you want to make a difference, kindness is a great place to start.
Just the simple desire to give it... whether big or small....is all you need.
  Give kindness without hesitation.
You might not get it back immediately, but you will eventually.
...For in kindness is the heart of who you truly are.

Kickoff to Summer

Memorial Day is the unofficial official start of the summer. I don't know about you but I am super excited. It never fails that whatever season it is, you are always looking forward to the next. I won't go as far to say I have been counting down the days, but warmer weather is something to get excited about. However, I think Arkansas missed their "spring".

It's just something about summertime....
 Long days.
 Late nights.
Iced coffee.
Cookouts.
Being at the lake.
Short shorts.
White jeans.
Wedges.
Bathing suits
and that perfect summer glow.

So pull out your ray bans, kick back, relax, soak up a little sun, drink a nice cool beverage and enjoy your long time off.

Yayyyy for a long weekend!

Oklahoma

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalms 9:9

I can not comprehend the fear, devastation, heart break, and loss that those in
Oklahoma are experiencing right now. It just kills me thinking about it.
Looking at the pictures from the damage this morning before work, getting ready for work
and knowing that I have a home to go to this afternoon makes it worse.
So many people had their homes taken from them.
...Their places of business.
...Their school.
...Their place to go in case of an emergency.
it is gone.
My heart is breaking.

These before and after photos are completely horrific to the devastation this storm caused.

This type of tragedy is beyond our control but there are things we can do to help.
Praying for the victims, their families. Prayers for those heroic volunteers.
Prayers that the community will come together to overcome such tragedy.

You can also find outlets to help reach those in Oklahoma to help with the recovery from this tragedy. You can text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to the victims of the Moore tornado, OR you can text "STORM" to 80888 to give $10 through the Salvation Army.
Also be sure to check with your Church to see if they are doing any type of food drive. Any little bit helps.

Motivational Monday

Results.....
Something we all want.
Something we all look forward to achieving.
Something we strive for.

But results can be....
Something we struggle with.
Something we fail at.
When you get the results you’re after, that’s great.
When the results fall short of your expectations, that’s great too.
Don't feel discouraged if you fall short of your goal.
You will gain valuable knowledge and experience in trying.

If you’re going through a difficult phase in your goal, keep going.
If you’re getting results that aren't quite what you are looking for, keep making the effort.
You’ll eventually get there.

With each action you take, you make a difference.
and you take a step closer to achieving your objective.

Look back at how far you’ve come since you started.
Understand that even the disappointing results can help you to find your way towards success.

With every effort { regardless of the outcome} you’ve made a step forward in hope to achieve your goal.
Always expect the best.
Your results will move steadily toward your expectations.

Keep going
 Keep making the effort
 Keep making a difference
 and keep getting results.

Each day, each action brings you closer to the end of your goal.

Think about WHY you started and HOW you will finish

Friday's Letters

Dear Little Sister....
I am so proud of you from graduating from college with a double major!
Oh how I wish I could go back to 2006 and re-live my college days.
Those were the days.
No full time job, no responsibilities, just living the life and enjoying every minute of it.

Dear Starbucks...
We seriously NEED you to open in my neck of the woods.
Until then I will enjoy a little pick me up every chance I get.

Dear Bentley....
You got to meet your 1 month old baby cousin when they came over last night and got a little jealous when your momma was holding the baby.  Poor thing wanted me to just hold him all night after they left. He will always be "my baby" but we have a little one who wants all the attention.

Dear Peonies....
I really wish you bloomed year round.
Until then I will enjoy these beauties every time I go outside my house.
Absolutely GORG!
 I need more.

Motivational Monday

There are some things that you can control.....
and there are other things that you cannot.
There are some things that you can change.....
and there are other things that you must simply learn to live with.
By accepting what you cannot do, you free up much time and energy that can be devoted to what you can do. By accepting the things you cannot change, you give yourself more power  over the areas that you can control.
Do you ever find yourself getting overwhelmed?
Do you have so much to do that is seems like you don't have enough time to complete it all? Then stop thinking about how much there is to do and start getting it done.
Feeling overwhelmed is merely a state of mind. A thought that you choose.
It is a thought that you can let go just as easy as you can choose to let it overwhelm you.
The days pass. The weeks pass. The months pass....
It can make you feel like time is quickly slipping away.
Time comes to you just as quickly as it moves on.
Take each moment that you get and take the opportunity to make a difference, complete your tasks and achieve your goals.
That is how you get things done. Moment by moment, small tasks build into great accomplishments, and accomplishments build into fulfilled results.
You don’t have to tackle everything all at once.
Just do what you can, when you can.
It is good to be well aware of what you can do.
It is even better to also acknowledge and accept what you cannot do.
Accept what you cannot do, and you’ll find great success in doing what you can.

Friday's Letters

Dear Bank of America....
I am highly upset with you for cancelling my debit card without my consent due to "irregular debit card activity." I do not in any way see how a $5.55 purchase at Hardee's or a $42 purchase at our local grocery store would raise a red flag. I mean... I try to stay away from fast food and all but I didn't think THIS would happen. Not having a debit card for 5-7 business days is a HUGE PROBLEM. Seriously...it is like dooms day over here, especially with me going out of town this weekend. Thank goodness my CC is okay. Bank of America, I am about to cancel YOU.

Dear Brad....
If you spill ONE more thing on our new custom couch pillows it will not be pleasant. Please be a little more careful...two accidents in one week is not okay.

Dear New Sweet Baby Cousin...
Your arrival was a little earlier than expected but you are absolutely precious. Welcome to the world Andrew Ellis West. I can't wait to love on you and rub on your sweet little baby feet again soon.

Dear Diet....
You go so well until your husband asks you to do something like bake a chocolate cake.

Dear Squat Challenge....
I am loving you so far. Day 10 means 105 squats today. My booty is beginning to thank you.

Dear Fayetteville....
I am excited to go back and visit this weekend in honor of my sister's college graduation. Oh how I miss this town so.

...... loves dressing up but changes into yoga pants as soon as I get home from work

......cleans/organizes when I am upset (who does that?!)

......will wait until I am trimming my own split ends to call and make a hair cut appointment

...... is terrified to have children but adores them

...... was fortunate enough not to need braces but still hates my smile ( completely self conscious about it)

Happy Wife, Happy Life

I truly believe in that statement.
Happy wife, happy life.
It makes sense if you think about it really.

I don't know about you but I do a lot for my husband. If you think of a good ol' southern traditional marriage we are pretty much that.  I clean the entire house, have dinner ready when he gets home, do all the laundry, the ironing, all the shopping, and even wait on my husband hand and foot (well at times I feel that way)... I do it all. Except I do everything AND still have a full time job. This is the realistic definition of a real housewife. Not the vino drinking, drama filled, high maintenance girls that don't lift a finger around the house that I make sure and DVR in case I miss it real housewives.

When it comes to certain things, I know what I want. I also know that I won't be happy until I get it. That might sound a little spoiled. Maybe I am. But I work hard for what I get.

After typing out and posting a few things from My Grown Up Wish List I am happy to say that I have already crossed off many of these in the past week. It always feels good to put that little line through something you complete.

I have a new living room rug (and bathroom rug, I couldn't resist.)

We extended our back patio and the concrete is drying as we speak.

...now I need to put out all my patio furniture, get some big pots, more plants and lay sod.

And I am happy to say that I have narrowed it down to a few headboards I want to get; however, I am trying to decide on what fabric / color to go with.

Another thing on my grown up wish list I didn't share with ya'll was more landscaping. Although I didn't put that in my blog post I added over 25 plants around my house last week. Yes ya'll I did it myself. I guess I get a little bit of a green thumb from my Mom. She is obsessed with gardening/landscaping. I wouldn't go as far as to say that about me but I want some good curb appeal when I pull into my driveway.

Bentley just thought he was helping! I love that he always wants to be where I am. I got all the plants in the ground and Brad added  new bark to all of our flower beds. Yay!

New Rugs
Landscaping
Extended Patio

It feels good to able to cross a few things off of my list.

...I even got a new dining room table while I was at it

 ^^^^^^
The above picture is so true.
While there are many things I still want to splurge on, I have come to realize that I want to make my house more of a home. While many of the things I want cost a little more than say a new outfit, I love being able to invest in nice things that will last.

The Choice of Feelings

  You create your feelings.
You are responsible for them.
You control them.
By controlling those feelings in a positive way, you can drastically change your outlook on things. In result of this, your life will change for the better.

If you blame someone else for your feelings, you are giving that person control.  If you avoid taking responsibility for your feelings, those feelings can quickly overwhelm you.

The way you feel can affect every aspect of your life. By taking control of your feelings in a positive way, you put yourself in a more powerful position.

Every feeling that you experience is a feeling you have chosen. Though much of what comes your way is beyond your control, the way you feel about it all is completely up to you.

If your life seems to be stuck, that’s a good sign that you are holding on to feelings that are no longer appropriate. Understand that you can let those feelings go and be free to move  ahead as long as you let it happen.

Feelings are powerful. The power they have is the power you choose to give them.
Choose your feelings wisely, and life will be much more enjoyable.

Just let it be and don't let someone else take control of your life by the actions they make.

My New Motivation

I've been wearing this new bracelet for several weeks now. I am telling you - If I sold these I would have made a fortune. It is the best thing when it comes to fitness. It has honestly made me more cautious on how much I am moving around throughout the day and motivates me to do more
.... now if only this bracelet had diamonds.

What is it you might ask?
It is called UP by Jawbone.

These are the colors they come in but I chose black to match anything

....and here is a little bit of what it does

-tracks your daily steps
-tracks how many calories you burn active vs. total
-tracks your active time
-tracks your longest idle time
-vibrates when you have been inactive for too long
-tracks how long it takes you to fall asleep
-tracks how many times through the night you wake up
-tracks your deep sleep vs light sleep
-tracks how long you are in bed
-keeps up with your mood (you have to manually enter)
-tracks the food you eat and the beverages you drink (you have to manually enter)
-vibrates when you want to wake up in the morning
-sets a timer for a nap
-logs your workouts

and the great thing is that it is water resistant!

it keeps this record so that you can go back at any time and view your patterns

How you view these lifestyle updates
The end cap of the bracelet comes off and you plug it into your iPhone! It instantly syncs to your UP app and updates you on your progress throughout the day!

You charge the battery when you get it for 30 minutes and the battery life lasts you 10 days.

Here is an example of one of my off days earlier in the week - they are always SO much more productive

yes you read that right! 10 hours and 48 minutes of sleep AND over 13,000 steps (and that was without working out). BOOM!

That was 5.7 Miles of cleaning / housework ya'll. Brad - you are welcome!

He thought it was ridiculous when I bought it but now he tells everyone about it!
Best $130 I've spent in awhile.

My ass has hail damage

Well guys I have come to a conclusion. It is almost bikini weather and this girl has got to get her butt into gear. What happened to the girl that was in the gym for at least 2 hours 6 days a week? Oh right... those were my single college days and an excuse to meet people. Well those days have come and gone. I have a big girl job, a husband and an ass that has hail damage. Okay so not really hail damage but I could definitely use some toning back there.

 but come on....

It's officially the 2nd day of May and the 3rd day of my squat challenge. So far so good!

Yesterday Brad met me at work real fast and as I walked out he asked me to please not wear the pants I had on again. I asked why and he said they were too baggy.
....and then he became my favorite person.

My diet really isn't an issue...seriously
a trip to Wal-Mart looks like this in my household

but then again - we all have these moments

which often make us feel like we just ruined our entire week.

Then there are these crazy wrap things I am selling that give me results like this
PS I just got a new shipment in so if you want one contact me ASAP I can't keep these in stock!! Or order HERE

and a month later my pants fitting like this
and then having those days where you just feel like a busted can of buscuits!
Oh the joys of being a woman
